Pierre-Auguste Renoir
1841–1919
Renoir favored the human figure over landscape, painting dance halls, boating parties, and portraits with a warmth and softness distinct from his peers. He trained first as a porcelain painter, a craft that left a lasting mark on his handling of color and light.
