Data Sources

Painting and artist data is sourced from Wikidata, and images are sourced from Wikimedia Commons under their respective public domain or open licenses.

Most images are in the public domain (the artwork itself, and often the photographic reproduction, are no longer under copyright). Some images are instead under a Creative Commons license (CC BY or CC BY-SA), which requires crediting the photographer. For those images, the license is shown next to the image on its page, and full attribution — the photographer's name and the exact license terms — is available via the "image source" link, which leads to the file's original Wikimedia Commons page.
