About this painting
Painted in September 1889 at the Saint-Rémy asylum, this is Van Gogh's second version of his Arles bedroom, repainted after flood damage threatened the original; it has belonged to the Art Institute of Chicago since 1926 as part of the Helen Birch Bartlett Memorial Collection.
